Chantilly cats have a semi-long silky coat, golden-amber-yellow eyes and a gracefully plumed tail. The ears are wide at the base and feature beautiful furnishings, and the coat occurs in chocolate, blue, fawn, cinnamon, lilac and different tabby patterns, such as spotted, ticked and mackerel.

These cats were formerly known as Foreign Longhairs or Mahoganies. They should not be confused with Asian Longhairs, carrying a resembling name, that were bred in Great Britain. Chantilly cats are in no way related to the Burmese breed, although they feature a similar coat color.
