The coat is soft in texture and comes in a variety of colors including “pointed” colors with more dark hairs on the face, tail, and legs. This breed is relatively new and there are few experienced breeders from whom one can buy a kitten.

The breed appeared due to a mutation that caused a curly coat and was developed from the shorthaired, curly coated dilute calico female. This is a medium to large breed with heavy bones and muscular body. The head is slightly more rounded than in the British Shorthair.
