Korats feature distinctive heart-shaped heads, very large peridot-green eyes and round-tipped ears. The head is relatively large in proportion to the body, and the tail is of medium length. The coat is short, close-lying and soft, occurring in a silver-blue tone.

The Korat was first described in old pieces of literature and paintings, dating back to 1767 to 1350 AD. The breed originated in Siam, and it was named after a high plateau Korat. The animal symbolized good luck, and so far these pets are given to young married couples for happiness.
